
Shuffleboard appeals to all ages and offers a great way to spend time with family and friends while on vacation at Lakeside. No experience is necessary to enjoy this free activity. Court hours are 9 am-9 pm Monday-Saturday and 12-9 pm Sunday. Free lessons are taught from 9:30-10:30 am Tuesday for all ages and consist of instruction in basic play.
The Lakeside Shuffleboard Club and staff also organize local youth and team tournaments. Membership to the Lakeside Shuffleboard Club, an organization of players at every level, from beginner through advanced, is $3 per year.
In addition, Lakeside is the proud host of the National Shuffleboard Tournament. For more information regarding tournaments or club membership, check the weekly Lakesider newspaper or visit the Shuffleboard Shack in Central Park.
The beautifully landscaped miniature golf course in Central Park features familiar Lakeside scenes and guarantees 18 holes of challenging greens and family fun. Lakeside Miniature Golf costs $3.50 per person and is open from 10 am-10 pm Monday-Saturday and 12-10 pm Sunday.
Lakeside's newest playground built and dedicated in 2009 was custom-made for the enjoyment of the community's youngest guests and residents. The structure includes slides, rock climbing and tubes.
Supervised play is available from 9 am-12 pm and 1-5 pm Monday-Saturday. Children entering the supervised play times must be ages 4-7.
During the week, playground supervisors lead a variety of games geared to those ages 4-7, including Dumbo's Flight of the Magic Feather, Tigger Tag and the Little Mermaid Marathon.
The Life Trail Outdoor Wellness Park features 10 exercise and stretching stations for exercisers to utilize near the Williams Tennis Campus at Laurel Avenue and Sixth Street.
For enjoyment and convenience, a two-mile nature/walking trail borders the perimeter of Lakeside and is a great addition to any fitness routine. Entrances are located at the Williams Tennis Campus, Train Station and the Life Trail Outdoor Wellness Park.
Perry Park located along the lakefront on Second Street, adjacent to the East Gate Entrance, includes a playground and three tennis courts. Cherry Park, located between Fourth and Fifth Street at Cherry Avenue, has a playground as well.
Children will also be excited to visit the new playground located directly across from the Train Station and Campground at Cedar Avenue that features many of the playground equipment formerly situated in Central Park.
Youth ages 7-12 will enjoy participating in daily morning recreation near the basketball courts from 11 am-12 pm Monday-Friday. Each day features a different team sport, including these favorites: Capture the Flag, kick ball and a scavenger hunt.
Children ages 4-12 are invited to a basic bicycle safety class followed by bike decorating and a parade through Lakeside. Bring bikes to Bradley Temple at 11:15 am Monday to participate.
The basketball courts in Central Park are often the scene of regular organized and pick-up games during the season. Equipment is available at the Golf Hut.
Horseshoe courts are also located in Central Park, offering guests and residents the opportunity to partake in a classic summer activity. Equipment is available at the Golf Hut.
