Sing We Now of Christmas: Advent Study

Do you enjoy the music of the season? Would you like to connect with other Lakesiders across the miles during this “most wonderful time of the year?” If so, then plan to take part in this year’s Advent Study, Sing We Now of Christmas, with the Rev. Dr. Charlie Yoost joined by Michael Shirtz at the piano. The study will be held on the four Wednesday evenings of Advent: December 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. via Zoom, so you can enjoy the music of the season and thoughtful reflections from the convenience of your own home! The study will be based on the book by James Howell, senior pastor of Myers Park United Methodist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina entitled, “Why This Jubilee?” The book is available in both print and electronic versions.

The format of the study will be to hear the music and reflect on the meaning of well-known Christmas carols. The first week will consider the place: Bethlehem; the second week, the men: Joseph, John the Baptist, Herod, Caesar Augustus, the shepherds, and the wise men. The third week we will focus on Mary: the most influential woman the world has ever known, and the fourth week: Jesus, the Christ Child.

You will never hear the carols of Christmas again in the same way following this study! Register today by calling the Lakeside Administration Office at 419.798.4461 or email The deadline for registration is Monday, Nov. 29.
