Gospel Music Celebration

Lakeside Chautauqua hosts its 5th Annual Gospel Music Celebration, led by Johnny Parker, featuring the theme, “Great Hymns of Faith, Vol. 2.”  

On Sunday, May 31, at the 10:30 a.m. Hoover Worship Service, singers from Lakeside and the surrounding communities will join Johnny in a gospel music worship experience. Included in the service music are Parker’s wife, vocalist and director Laveta, along with vocalist Ian Morgan and pianist/vocalist Khamilah Morgan. 

Later that evening, at 7 p.m. in Hoover Auditorium, all are invited to a stirring Gospel Music Celebration concert, featuring Rev. Anthony T. Parker, the gospel group FAVOR, Ian and Khamilah Morgan, special musical guest Rise Joiner Peters, and singers from Lakeside joining the program. This concert is supported by James E. Beardsley and Doris F. Beardsley. 

Singers interested in singing at the Hoover Worship Service and Gospel Music Celebration concert should contact Rev. Kimberly Orr at (419) 798-4461, ext. 214. Rehearsals are Saturday, May 30, at 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Fountain Inn Aigler Room and again before the evening concert.  

Johnny, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, was born into a family deeply rooted in faith and community service. With a passion for music and spirituality, he pursued his calling and was ordained as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ. 

Currently serving as the Associate Pastor and Director of Music & Fine Arts at Rhema Fellowship Church, Johnny brings over 30 years of experience as a music industry professional. He also showcases his talents as a bass guitarist, writer, composer and arranger. Johnny’s expertise extends beyond music. He’s also a skilled event producer and artistic director. 

He holds a degree from John Carroll University and boasts 25 years of experience in health and human services. He has made significant contributions as the principal consultant for SHOCC, Ltd., with a focus on community programming. In his consultancy work, Johnny has collaborated with organizations such as the Tri-C JazzFest, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, NAACP and many others. 

Driven by his commitment to spreading positivity through music, Johnny, alongside Laveta, founded the Good News Concert Series, a platform that uplifts communities through gospel music. This collaborative effort reflects their shared dedication to spreading joy and inspiration through music ministry.
