DeHaas brings decades of experience in education and horticulture. After 34 years teaching grades K-12, he joined the Ohio State University – Lake County Extension in 2016, where he serves as Agriculture & Natural Resources Educator, focusing on ornamental trees, shrubs and home landscapes.
He has served on the boards of the Nursery Growers of Lake County, Ohio; Tri-County Grape Growers; and the Northeast Ohio Christmas Tree Growers Association. He’s also active on the Buckeye Environmental Horticulture Team and writes for Buckeye Yard and Garden Line.
