Discover practical tips and fresh inspiration for your garden with Get Growing!, an educational gardening series held every other Thursday from June 11-Aug. 13. Each hour-long program features an engaging guest speaker, and many sessions offer hands-on learning. This series is perfect for gardeners of all experience levels.

In this session, explore the art and technique of worm composting and learn how to turn everyday organic materials into nutrient-rich "black gold" for your garden. This process not only creates a powerful soil amendment, but also puts food scraps and other compostable materials to productive use rather than sending them to a landfill.

Presenter Madonna Zaleha has been an Erie County Master Gardener since 2019. She is passionate about educating others about gardening, native plants and worm composting. Having grown up on a farm, Zaleha has long appreciated watching plants and trees grow and observing the interactions between insects, microorganisms, animals, people and landscapes.
