Always a crowd favorite, The Chardon Polka Band returns to the Steele Memorial Bandstand at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 28 to captivate Lakesiders of all ages with its innovative and colorful take on polka music.
Formed in 2003, the ensemble emerged from the Cleveland music scene, performing at countless fairs and festivals.
Founding member Jake Kouwe (accordion) began the band alongside four fellow Chardon High School students and has been leading it ever since. Although still rooted in Cleveland, the performers frequently take their show on the road.
With an extensive catalog of classic polkas, the musicians aren’t afraid to shake things up, often incorporating original songs and polka-style covers of pop hits by artists like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga.
