Founded in 1978 by Donald and Janice Bench, Bench’s Greenhouse in Elmore, Ohio, began as a small operation in a single greenhouse, supplying tomato and pepper plants for the family’s commercial farming business. What started with a few hundred hanging baskets and potted plants quickly grew into a thriving retail destination as demand from local gardeners exceeded expectations.
Today, Bench’s Greenhouse & Nursery features more than three acres of retail production and sales space, offering an extensive selection of flowering hanging baskets, annuals, perennials, nursery trees, roses, shrubs and other landscape plants. The greenhouse serves customers throughout Northwest Ohio with quality plants and expert growing knowledge.
Jill and Don, Jr Bench now oversee the daily operations of both the greenhouse and the family’s 650-acre farm, which specializes in processing corn and soybeans. During the summer months, Bench’s Farm Market offers fresh, locally grown produce including sweetcorn, melons, peppers, cucumbers, green beans, squash, pumpkins and gourds.
Each holiday season, the greenhouse transforms into The Christmas Shoppe at Bench’s. Guests can explore more than 100 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, along with a wide selection of ornaments, gifts and holiday decor. Homegrown poinsettias, fresh wreaths, garland, swags, bows and seasonal greenery complete the festive shopping experience.
