As the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra opens its 60th season this week, Keri Lee Pierson will lead a series of musical exploration events. All ages are invited to explore instruments and make simple crafts. There is no charge or pre-registration to participate. Join us on the following dates:
- Thursday, July 27 from 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m. on Walnut Plaza
- Friday, July 28 from 6-6:45 p.m. on Walnut Plaza
- Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Rhein Center
Keri Lee Pierson is a classically trained soprano, contemporary musician and music educator. She currently is a Doctor of Musical Arts student at Bowling Green State University.
Previously, she lived and performed in St. Augustine, Florida, where she was an adjunct instructor at Flagler College. She also taught young minds music reading skills and music history at Veritas Classical School, was a staff musician at Memorial Presbyterian Church and served as the Assistant Director of the St. Augustine Youth Chorus.
Pierson holds a master’s degree in vocal performance from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from the University of Central Florida.
Pierson has given presentations and masterclasses on music entrepreneurial skills and composing for the voice at BGSU, with the Bowling Green Arts Council, as an alumna of the University of South Carolina and the University of Florida and has been a part of residencies at Interlochen Center for the Arts.
She currently leads Lakeside’s ”SymFunny” Music Workshops on Friday mornings. In these workshops, for ages 0-9, children learn about the symphony by exploring orchestral music, learning musical concepts, interacting with the instruments and dancing.
