As many know, Lakeside started as a Camp Meeting. If you’d like to deepen your understanding of Camp Meeting history, join a Zoom Book Discussion on Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 5 p.m. EST, organized by the Historic Camp Meeting Network.
We’ll enjoy a presentation by Keith Dwayne Lyon, author of God’s Brush Arbor: Camp Meeting Culture During the Second Great Awakening, 1800-1860. (The link takes you to a free online copy of the text.)
If you have time, please read Chapter 4: “Holy Ground: The Sacralized Realm of Early American Camp Meetings” prior to the event. If you don’t have time to do the reading, come anyway.
The meeting will include time for participant discussion. Lyon is a treasure trove of camp meeting history! Join by Zoom on the day of the Book Discussion.
