Chautauqua Community Worship Service: Rev. Mike McCormick

Lakeside Chautauqua is pleased to welcome Rev. Mike McCormick, Pastor at Calvary Christian Church, to lead the 10:30 a.m. Chautauqua Community Worship Service on Sunday, June 12 in Hoover Auditorium. This week’s preacher is supported by John & Mary Beth Porcari & Family.

Featuring music and the spoken Word, Michael Shirtz and guest artists of the Chautauqua Jazz Week Experience will provide musical leadership during the service, while the liturgy is led by the Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, Senior Director of Religious Life & Pastoral Care.

Following the opening prayer, children (ages 5-11) will proceed to Bradley Temple for Children’s Church with Chip Richter. There will be a message by Richter, songs, crafts and refreshments to share. Children ages 6 and under are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

McCormick’s theme for the week is “The Heart of Discipleship: See Differently, Serve Differently,” lessons from the Gospel of Mark. This is also the main theme in his book, House on Fire! A Story of Loss, Love, and Servant Leadership. It has a lot to do with discipleship and leadership development in the context of a community like Lakeside. He will lead Vespers by the Lake at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Steele Memorial Bandstand.

This week’s Chautauqua Community Worship Service will be livestreamed. Visit lakesideohio.com/streaming to watch on the day of the service.

Rev. McCormick is people-oriented leader, trainer and developer. He is an innovative team-builder who serves as a Pastor at Calvary Christian Church, a church with three locations throughout central and eastern Kentucky, as well as a private school. McCormick has a passion for developing leaders and teams who serve great purposes in their families, work and communities.

In addition to his work at the church, McCormick is a Senior Consultant with Third River Partners where he has implemented Serving Leader Development and Shared Goal Achievement at Johns Hopkins University, Genesis Healthcare, Alcoa, SRG Global, WVU Medicine, Indiana University Health Plans, Sterling Health System, AtlantiCare, Alignment Healthcare, Sisters of Charity Health System and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

In 2020, McCormick became the Founder & President of The High Purpose Practice LLC, which offers the world-class Serving Leader Development and Shared Goal Achievement experience to high purpose people and organizations such as Refuge for Women and Young Life.

McCormick earned his bachelor’s degree in applied communications from Asbury University, as well as his Master of Theology and Doctorate of Ministry in leadership development from Dallas Theological Seminary.
