Accomplished comedian Dennis Regan will bring his hilarious stand-up show to Orchestra Hall at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.

Singer Thor Platter opens the show. Known for his soulful, Americana-infused sound and poetic lyrics, Platter has been a staple in the roots music scene for years.

Regan was born and raised in Miami and started doing stand-up comedy in his early 30s. Before that, he had many different jobs, including bussing and waiting tables, bagging groceries, killing bugs, throwing luggage, painting houses, working construction and running an asphalt business called “Tars and Stripes.”

Regan hit his first open mic night at Coconuts Comedy Club in North Miami in 1987. Four months later, he won a local contest. A month after that, a club owner paid Regan $30 a set to do 10 minutes on the weekend. He loved it, and still does. He can’t think of anything else he’d rather do for a living.

The next year, Regan moved to New York City. He broke into the main line-up of all the important clubs: The Improv, The Comic Strip, The Comedy Cellar, Catch a Rising Star and Dangerfield’s.

Regan is a comedian specializing in “clean comedy.” His television credits include multiple appearances on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” A&E’s “Evening at the Improv,” Comedy Central and Showtime.

Regan wrote for the popular Kevin James sitcom “The King of Queens” from its sixth season to its ninth and final season.

Audiences all over the country have experienced Regan’s comedy, from nightclubs and cruise ships to colleges and corporations. He has even performed at Carnegie Hall.

Whether he’s entertaining millions on TV or thousands in concert, Regan has the experience and creativity to delight everyone in the audience.

His brother, Brian Regan, is also a successful, in demand comedian.
