Community Worship: Rev. Zac Hess

Lakeside is pleased to welcome Rev. Zac Hess, Lead Pastor at Grace Polaris Church in Columbus, as Preacher of the Week June 4-8. This week’s preacher is supported by an Anonymous Donor.

Hess will lead the 10:30 a.m. Chautauqua Community Worship Service on Sunday, June 4 in Hoover Auditorium. His sermon, titled, “Living and Leaving a Gospel Legacy,” is based on 2 Timothy.

Michael Shirtz and guest artists will provide musical leadership during the service, while the liturgy will be led by Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, Senior Director of Religious Life & Pastoral Care.

Following the opening prayer, children (ages 5-11) will proceed to Bradley Temple for Children’s Church with Chip Richter. There will be a message by Richter, songs, crafts, lemonade and cookies to share. Preschoolers are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Hess is on the pastoral staff at Grace Polaris Church where he teaches Bible and theology classes and leads the pastoral internship and residency program. He also serves as the lead coordinator for the Charis Pastors Fellowship of North Central Ohio.

Hess earned biblical and theological degrees from Grace College and Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana, and a Master of Theology from Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

He’s married to Sarah, and they have four children (Jacob, Caroline, Kate and Luke). The couple has a rich history at Lakeside and first came nearly 30 years ago, continuing a legacy of five generations. They now enjoy all the Lakeside staples with their kids, and you’ll find them playing tennis, miniature golf and shuffleboard, eating ice cream and taking bike rides and walks as a family.

Join Hess for Faith for Living Hour at 9 a.m. Monday-Thursday in Orchestra Hall. Hess will also give the sermon, “When the Winds and Waves Obey,” at Vespers by the Lake at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Steele Memorial Bandstand.

Guests are welcome to attend Community Worship free of charge by requesting a complimentary Church Pass between 7:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday; valid until 1 p.m. The pass includes admittance for guests and auto. This pass must be presented to the gate attendant upon departure. If the time allotted is exceeded, the guest(s) will be charged a fee. This pass does not include access to the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus pool. Complimentary passes are available for all worship services and Faith for Living Hour.
