Get Growing!

These educational and often hands-on weekly gardening programs are held every Thursday throughout the summer and feature guest speakers and a variety of gardening topics. The programs are held from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Train Station unless otherwise noted. Programs are free of charge and registration is not required.

This week’s topic is ‘Hydrangeas for Ohio Gardens: Easy Care with the Right Varieties.’ Join us to learn about the five main types of hydrangeas in Ohio, with beautiful photos and samples to help you determine the best ones for your landscape. Learn from Eric Barrett about purchasing the right hydrangeas for your tastes and growing conditions. He’ll also teach you about alternatives to the ones that don’t bloom – or don’t bloom enough!

Eric Barrett is an Associate Professor and Area Leader with OSU Extension. He works with Master Gardener volunteers and Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists, conducting over 100 community programs each year. His specializations are direct marketing and horticulture.

Barrett offers simple solutions to improve gardens. He is a near-expert on hydrangeas, authoring factsheets and presentations. Teaching is his passion, and he presents across the state of Ohio, as well as the U.S. and Canada.

The event is finished.
