LESS: Frank O’Dell Arbor Day Picnic

The 14th Annual Frank O’Dell Arbor Day Picnic, organized by the Lakeside Environmental Stewardship Society (LESS), will take place 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Pavilion Jennings East Deck. The picnic is open to all.

LESS is an organization of volunteers whose primary objective is alerting Lakesiders to the ever-increasing need for environmental awareness among all who enjoy the beauty of nature and wish to preserve this very special place.

One of LESS’s major concerns is the preservation and replacement of trees, thus the name Arbor Day Picnic for this annual event. It is also named in honor of Dr. Frank O’Dell, one of LESS’s founders and its first president.

This will be a carry-in/carry-out event. Please bring everything you need (food, drinks, table service, etc.). An annual feature of the picnic is the tree quiz, which has prizes for the winners, and there will be a guest speaker.

Please note that the Splash Park will close at 5 p.m. this day due to the picnic.
