Native Heart

Please note: This event has moved to Hoover Auditorium.

Jonathan and Julie Torrence, the founders and creative force behind Native Heart, will present a family concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20 at the Steele Memorial Bandstand. The band’s soul-tinged brand of pop, folk and Americana – all with a jazz influence – help to tell stories of life that are relatable as well as poetic.

Their music boasts melodic hooks, rhythmic vibes and intentional narratives, and at the core of the songs is a love of creation and storytelling.

“Everyone naturally finds meaning and purpose in what moves us, whether it’s nature, faith, relationships, our goals, etc.,” says Jonathan. Although we’re all different, there is something significant that connects us. The hope is that the music reflects that.”

During his Lakeside visit, Jonathan will also lead the Chautauqua Songwriting Workshop with composer Michael Shirtz and serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Lakeside Talent Show.

The event is finished.
