Paddle to the Sea
This 1942 Caldecott Honor Book has taught children and families about geography and natural science in the Great Lakes region for 80 years. The hour-long narration tells the journey of a 12-inch canoe carved by a Canadian First Nations boy who releases the canoe in Lake Superior. Four years later, the tiny vessel reaches its destination at the Atlantic Ocean after a journey through the five Great Lakes. Illustrations from the book will accompany the narration. Appropriate for children ages 9 and up. Open to all adults with or without children. Presented by the Lakeside Heritage Society.
