Organist Clark Wilson returns to Hoover Auditorium Monday, Aug. 26 at 8:15 p.m. to accompany the screening of the silent movie “Steamboat Bill, Jr.” This Silent Movie Night is supported by Peter & Debbie Stephens.
Wilson, one of the most recognized scorers of silent photoplays in America, works exclusively with the organ to develop historically accurate musical accompaniments as they were performed in major pictures during the heyday of silent film.
He began his scoring career in 1980 and has successfully toured North America with hundreds of film presentations at universities, performing arts centers, theaters, film festivals and conventions.
Wilson’s work has led to performances for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Society.
“Steamboat Bill, Jr.” stars silent film star Buster Keaton, Tom McGuire, Ernest Torrence, Tom Lewis and Marion Byron. In the film, an effete son of a cantankerous riverboat captain comes to join his father’s crew. (1h 10m)
