The Life & Times of Ulysses S. Grant
Please note: this event has moved to Orchestra Hall.
On Wednesday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m., join Barry Meadows at Orchestra Hall for a first-person portrayal of President Ulysses S. Grant. Learn about Grant’s youth in Ohio, his education at West Point, his civilian experiences, his tenure as Commander of the Union Armies, his administration as President, and his life after the presidency. Examine the exciting life of this admired (and much misunderstood) icon of the Civil War.
Meadows is a retired educator who has portrayed Grant for more than 20 years. He has participated in numerous Civil War reenactments in Ohio, Florida, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. He made cameo appearances as Grant in the “Shiloh” episode of “Battlefield Detectives” on the History Channel and in “Civil War 360” on the Smithsonian Channel. Meadows currently lives with his wife and two dogs.
