The 2024 Summer Olympics will take place July 26-Aug. 11 in Paris. To watch the action live and witness history being made, Lakeside will stream the Opening Ceremony and select dates for viewing.
For the first time in the Olympic Summer Games, the Opening Ceremony will not take place in a stadium. According to the olympics.com website, Paris 2024 is breaking new ground and hosting the Opening Ceremony and parade of athletes on the Seine River. Boats will be used to introduce each national delegation.
Lakesiders are invited to watch the Opening Ceremony from 1:30-5 p.m. Friday, July 26 in Orchestra Hall. This viewing replaces the previously scheduled movie, “The Call of the Wild.”
For the next 16 days, 10,500 athletes will compete in rowing, volleyball, fencing, hockey, gymnastics, diving, swimming, skateboarding, tennis, basketball, surfing, sailing, archery, track & field, cycling and more.
