Lakeside Chautauqua

Giving Tuesday

Create enriching experiences for all generations.

Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial Celebration this past summer created many memorable experiences for Lakesiders of all ages. Through magnificent arts performances, thought-provoking educational lectures, exciting recreational activities and meaningful worship services, we found personal enrichment at Lakeside.

Families found something else that keeps them coming back year after year: the opportunity to step back from day-to-day routines to renew and connect in community. No matter where you are in your life journey, Lakeside offers opportunities for every generation, every family and every person to find the enrichment, connection and rest they’re seeking.

Looking Toward the Future

The Sesquicentennial Celebration honored our past, celebrated the present and looked toward the future with meaningful conversations about the next 150 years.

Keeping in mind these conversations and our rich tradition of nurturing the mind, body and spirit, we’re asking Lakesiders to join hands this #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, to support multigenerational family experiences with improvements to Orchestra Hall and the continuation of our Keynote Speaker Series for Lakeside’s 151st summer season.

Orchestra Hall Movies & Small Performances

As one of Lakeside’s few year-round venues, Orchestra Hall remains home to educational lectures, Faith for Living Hour, family movies, community forums and much more. It’s a gathering space where Lakesiders young and old go to learn and grow from diverse preachers, speakers and movies.

As Orchestra Hall nears 100 years old and technology advances, the following enhancements must be made:

  • New movie projector connecting to fiber optic internet
  • Improved sound system & projection screen
  • Bathroom upgrades
  • Stage improvements for small performances & community presentations
  • Upgrades in electrical work

Keynote Speakers Series

Lifelong learning is foundational to the Chautauqua experience. This past summer, we discovered the power of bringing families together to learn something new with the introduction of the Keynote Speaker Series.

Lecturers like Kathryn Sullivan, John Gable, Scott Simon, Jim Tressel, Steve Hartman and Clark Kellogg inspired us to explore our world, gain a new perspective and connect with our friends and family. And the children didn’t let us down when questions about colonizing Mars and building in space started an interesting conversation.

The Keynote Speaker Series would not have been possible without Lakesiders making personal connections with speakers who then donated their time as a gift to Lakeside’s 150th Celebration or provided a greatly reduced rate. On top of this generosity, many individuals, families, companies and foundations donated financially to create an enriching Chautauqua experience we hope to continue next summer.

You shared that the Keynote Speaker Series was important. Lakeside’s goal is to bring 6-8 new keynote speakers on Thursday evenings during the summer. By changing the day of the lectures, more Lakesiders will be engaged as we encourage people to extend their weekend trips. You have an opportunity to make this enriching multigenerational experience happen again.

#GivingTuesday is Nov. 28, 2023

#GivingTuesday is right around the corner! Lakeside’s mission remains central to everything we do:

To enrich the quality of life for all people, to foster traditional Christian values, and to nurture relationships through opportunities for renewal and growth – spiritually, intellectually, culturally and physically – while preserving Lakeside’s heritage.

To strengthen our mission for next year, Lakeside invites you to help elevate the experience at Orchestra Hall and continue the enriching Keynote Speakers Serie. #GivingTuesday takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 28 and you’re invited to give two gifts:

  1. #GivingTuesday Special Gift: Give to enhance Orchestra Hall and/or continue the Keynote Speakers Series
  2. Lakeside Impact Giving: Elevate the Chautauqua experience and support the four pillars: Religion, Education, Arts & Recreation

Every gift counts and makes exploring our world possible! Several families have already stepped forward to start the momentum of generosity by committing a transformational gift to Orchestra Hall and the Keynote Speaker Series. This #GivingTuesday you have an opportunity to bring the world closer, help someone grow spiritually and spark creativity.
