Happy New Year from a wintry Lakeside! All of us on the Lakeside staff hope that 2022 brings you great health, peace, spiritual renewal, and happiness. I continue to be impressed by the work of the Lakeside team as they collaborate to plan the 2022 summer season with quality programs, religious and spiritual experiences, healthy recreational opportunities and extraordinary guest experiences, along with the tranquil Lakeside culture. It is a privilege to work with this talented team.
Special appreciation goes to the many who stepped forward in 2021 to support Lakeside financially and through hours of volunteer service. Examples are everywhere, such as:
- Lakesiders’ generosity for #GivingTuesday raised $350,000. This helps give us the resources for quality programming, recreational opportunities, and overdue maintenance.
- Lakesiders volunteered several thousand hours of services from gardening and landscape work to ticketing and presenting at educational programming. These volunteers helped enhance the Lakeside experience for countless Lakesiders and visitors.
- Our finance department has been understaffed for years which made it difficult to adequately review and update many of our practices and software programs. Peter Stephens, the former CFO of Wendy’s International, and Karen Mader, formerly with Nationwide Insurance in their financial services area, stepped forward and volunteered to review and make recommendations in finance. They found the Finance Department performed exceptionally well while being understaffed. They also made recommendations that have the potential to save Lakeside tens of thousands of dollars.
- Numerous Lakeside businesses donating money to lakeside for programming.
I also want to express my appreciation to the over 100 Lakeside households who participated in our three Town Hall Meetings for a discussion about solutions to the erosion issues on the western shoreline. These discussions, with more to follow as we narrow the shoreline options, will allow us to develop a consensus around a final plan. This type of engagement is a commitment from the Board and the administration for future decision making. We want all Lakesiders to have the opportunity for their voices to be heard on major decisions.
Your support and engagement makes Lakeside an even better destination for escape, renewal, and fun. Thank you for your trust, commitment, and support. It is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kip Greenhill
