I have always found the change of seasons to be exhilarating, and the coming of fall in Lakeside is especially energizing. I’m looking forward to spending the fall here with my wife Katy and experiencing all of the seasons in this beautiful part of Ohio. I feel blessed to be here and to serve as Lakeside’s President & CEO.
I want to take this time to let you know what the staff and I will be working on to make the 2022 season one of the most engaging and enjoyable years ever.
· We will begin addressing the water drainage and necessary street repairs. The work will be prioritized by the severity of the problems with completion in eight to ten years. This work will be paid partially by the increased assessment on Lakeside homeowners as well as other funding opportunities already being explored.
· We are also moving forward to prioritize and implement the strategic plan. This year over 120 Lakeside community members and guests served on thirteen separate working groups to develop recommendations based on community input and their individual expertise. Then, the Lakeside Association Board established strategic plan priorities. The next step is to engage all interested Lakeside homeowners, guests, staff and stakeholders to further prioritize these recommendations. Stay tuned for more information about how you can participate in this critical prioritization process.
· The Lakefront shoreline and dock are a top priority for our resources and attention. In the tradition of Lakeside, our community stepped forward to donate the necessary money to repair the dock from the Memorial Day storm damage and to also commission a study for a report recommending work to stabilize and maintain the shoreline and dock for years to come. We will keep you informed as solutions and plans are developed to sustain the lakefront.
· Planning for the 2022 summer season programming has begun with a goal of returning weekend programming and religious services to Hoover Auditorium as well as events at Steele Memorial Bandstand. Based on community feedback, we are focusing on quality over quantity for programming by providing high-caliber entertainment to enhance the Chautauqua experience while maintaining reasonable gate fees.
Our goal is to make the 2022 Lakeside season exceptional with diverse and quality programming, clean facilities, and top-notch hospitality.
Have a wonderful and safe fall, and I’ll look forward to seeing you on your next visit to Lakeside.
