Sunday Worship Services

There are a variety of worship celebrations offered every Sunday and throughout the week during the summer season. Some are more casual than others, but all offer a wonderful spiritual experience to all who participate.

Lakefront Worship Service

8:30 a.m. Sunday
Steele Memorial Bandstand
This informal worship service near water’s edge includes prayer requests, a variety of Christian hymns and contemporary songs, an inspiring message and the Sacrament of Holy Communion (with individual commercially packaged communion kits). The service is led by Rev. Dr. Scott Wilson, Lakefront worship coordinator.

Lakeside United Methodist Church Worship

9 a.m. Sunday
Lakeside United Methodist Church (450 Central Ave.)
This traditional church setting offers a vibrant style of worship using inspirational song and motivational words. The Rev. Karen Graham, Lakeside UMC pastor, leads this morning worship service.

Chautauqua Community Worship Service

10:30 a.m. Sunday
Hoover Auditorium
(Children’s Church offered at Bradley Temple)
Well-known guest preachers from across the United States inspire Lakesiders at the Chautauqua Community Worship Service. Featuring music and the spoken Word, Michael Shirtz and inspiring guest artists provide musical leadership, while the liturgy is led by the Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, senior director of Religious Life & Pastoral Care.

Children are invited to gather at the service in Hoover Auditorium and follow in song procession lead by Mr. Chip to the Children’s church service held in nearby Bradley Temple. Parents/Guardians may pick up their children at Bradley Temple immediately following the service.

Offering

An offering is received during the Sunday morning worship services. In addition, persons may make a special gift to support Religious Life at Lakeside Chautauqua through a virtual giving plate at lakesideohio.com/giving.

Altar Flowers

One arrangement of flowers can be placed on the altar for a contribution of $85. The flowers can be dedicated in memory or in honor of loved ones. Contact Rev. Sunset Praise

8:30 p.m. Sunday
Pavilion West Deck
This musical service along the lake features praise music and traditional hymns. Coordinated by John and Bonnie Wilkie.

Weekday Services

Vespers by the Lake

7:30 p.m. Tuesdays
Steele Memorial Bandstand
A half-hour evening worship service at the bandstand, overlooking Lake Erie. On Tuesday evening, the Preacher of the Week shares a brief homily following a time of singing and prayer.

Faith for Living Hour

9 a.m. Monday – Thursday
Orchestra Hall
During the Faith for Living hour, the Preacher of the Week shares a theme aimed at helping people grow in their faith and spiritual lives. Following the presentation, time is allotted for dialogue with the preacher.

Roman Catholic Mass

6:30 p.m. Thursdays
Train Station
Each Thursday evening, a Roman Catholic Mass will be celebrated by Father James Peiffer.  This half-hour typical Catholic liturgy will include music, scripture, and a brief homily.
