From May 28-June 1, The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall® will be displayed at Lakeside. It’s the only stop in Ohio this year. This Traveling Memorial, 3/5 the size of the memorial in Washington D.C., stands as a reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. It was made for the purpose of helping heal and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their hometown who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington.
Volunteers are needed to assist with load in on Wednesday, May 27, load out on Tuesday, June 2 and to be present during viewing hours from Thursday, May 28-Monday, June 1.
During load in and load out, refreshments and lunch will be provided for volunteers. For viewing hours, volunteers will be located under a tent with a table and chairs and water will be provided. Instruction will be provided on how to assist individuals with finding names on the wall. Two-hour shifts for viewing hours are available, but individuals are encouraged to sign up for four hours or multiple shifts over the five days. All volunteers for load in, load out and viewing must be 18 years of age or older.
