Art Class: Beach Glass Art

For Sweetest Day weekend, Lakeside Chautauqua and Art Dock are collaborating to offer a variety of art experiences to learn and create, either solo, as a couple or with friends and family. During your Lakeside visit, enjoy a stroll along the waterfront to see the changing colors, explore Lakeside’s shops and restaurants, play tennis or pickleball (bring your own equipment), and catch the film “Sleepless in Seattle” in Orchestra Hall over the weekend. After the summer season, admission to Lakeside Chautauqua is free.

Beach Glass Art
Learn how to paint a beautiful lake scene with acrylic paints and beach glass from 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 in the Pavilion Upper Room. Select additional elements from instructor Debbie Prue’s extensive collection of beach glass for a unique and multi-dimensional work of art. Everyone who loves the lake will enjoy creating their own design from memory. All supplies provided. The cost is $42 per person. Register through Art Dock.  

About the instructor: Prue is self-taught. Inspired by her grandmother and aunt, who taught her oil painting, she adds her personal love of collecting art glass in secret locations across Lake Erie. Prue sells her paintings and beach glass art in local stores, galleries and at a variety of art fairs. By establishing her own unique style of combining oil painting with beach glass, she has gained many collectors who enjoy her art.
