Lakeside Chautauqua Volunteer Corps

The Lakeside Chautauqua Volunteer Corps, an initiative organized by the Lakeside Chautauqua Foundation Board, is an opportunity for Lakesiders of all ages to help fill the gap of decreased labor in Lakeside by volunteering across the grounds and programming.

Many Lakesiders already volunteer, and we deeply appreciate all of their hard work and dedication to maintain and enhance our special community. Now, we’re looking for additional passionate and dedicated Lakesiders to step up and join them as part of the Lakeside Chautauqua Volunteer Corps.

You can use your time and talent to make a difference in the community. By committing your time, you will help reduce costs, complete important tasks and give back to your community.

Peace Crane Folding Volunteers

On Saturday, Aug. 13, join artist Daniel Dropko in a special community tradition – folding 1,000 Peace Cranes in one day to promote world peace. Lakesiders of all ages are invited to participate from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Walnut Plaza and from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on the Hoover Auditorium porch. The origami crane has become a worldwide symbol of peace since World War II and is a tradition celebrated in song and story. Volunteers are needed to help with folding instruction. Learn the technique from Dropko to assist others for the 1,000 garland that will be displayed at the Rhein Center.

Where to Volunteer

We’ll place you in a volunteer opportunity that’s the right fit for you. Certain volunteer opportunities are more popular than others, so please be flexible in the areas at Lakeside you are willing to help maintain and improve. Families can adopt a garden in their neighborhood; couples can volunteer for an activity that is close to their hearts; individuals can assist with the Farmers’ Market; and more. All volunteer opportunities will implement social distancing and put your health and safety first.

Who Should Volunteer?

All are welcome. Whether you volunteer with your friends, family, spouse or individually, the Lakeside Chautauqua Volunteer Corps is a great opportunity for everyone who loves Lakeside. Volunteer activities encompass a variety of capacities that best suit each member’s passions and are aligned with their interests, skills, and talents. Tell us a little bit about your interests
