After a successful launch last winter, Lakeside Online is back! This virtual series is a way to connect with Lakeside friends year-round, explore the Chautauqua experience from the comfort of home, and catch a sneak peek of what’s in store for next summer.

Through April, join virtual conversations with the Chautauqua Pillar Directors; create meaningful connections through Centering Prayer, Advent and Lenten Studies; get a behind-the-scenes look at the Lakeside Symphony Orchestra; and introduce young Lakesiders to Chip Richter’s interactive Once Upon a Porch program.

Lakeside Online programs are free of charge and easily accessible via Zoom. Donations are gratefully accepted to support these mission-driven gatherings. Visit lakesideohio.com/today to contribute.

Advent Study: Longings from God’s Own Heart
What is a longing you have? Maybe you long to have the Brown’s win a football game again this year. Maybe you long for a vacation. Maybe you long for one more day with a loved one you have lost. Maybe you long for peace for this world that seems so broken. Or maybe you long for something more, something that you can’t even describe.

A longing is a deep yearning, an ache of the heart. I thought a lot about human longings, and then I realized that I had never really thought much about God’s longings. I started exploring the scriptures and was touched by this aspect of God.

So, for this Advent season of preparation for the birth of Jesus, I thought, “What better way to prepare our own hearts than to look at the longings of God’s own heart.” Who knows what we will find – maybe a beginning healing of the ache of the heart – for us and for God.

Rev. Chris Young
Rev. Christina (Chris) Young is a Lutheran Pastor who most recently served two churches on the Marblehead Peninsula.  Currently, she is part of a ministry team (including Rev. Karen Graham and Dan Moulton) for “Fresh Bread,” a faith gathering in Port Clinton that meets monthly over a meal, modeled after the early church.

Young serves as Chair of the Lakeside Religious Advisory Team with Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, Lakeside’s Senior Director of Religious Life & Pastoral Care. Young has been a preschool director, a kindergarten teacher and an itinerant teacher for preschool children with special needs.

Finally, the calling to be a pastor sent her to Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio for her MDiv.  Her first call was to St. Mark’s in Bowling Green.

Young and her husband Steve live in Catawba Island, they have one son, Nathan who is a Baptist Pastor in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and they have six amazing grandchildren.

The event is finished.
