Book Discussion: “Sunnyside Plaza”

With Lakeside Chautauqua’s 150th Anniversary just around the corner, we’re excited to introduce you to Lakeside Onlinea new way to connect with friends year-round, explore the Chautauqua experience from the comfort of home and catch a sneak peek of what’s in store for the Sesquicentennial Celebration next summer.

From December through April, discuss books written by next summer’s visiting authors and keynote speakers, participate in virtual conversations with the Chautauqua Pillar Directors and make the holiday season meaningful with an Advent Study.

Lakeside Chautauqua is excited to welcome American Journalist Scott Simon as one of our Chautauqua Lecture Series keynote speakers. He will take the stage of Hoover Auditorium on Tuesday, July 25 at 8 p.m

In preparation for his lecture, you’re invited to join a virtual book discussion about his book Sunnyside Plaza, led by Lakesider Katy Greenhill. Connect with friends across the country to exchange thoughts, questions and ideas about this book. Lakesiders are encouraged to read selected books prior to our discussions. Pre-registration required.

Discussion Host: Katy Greenhill 

Katy Greenhill is a lifelong lover of books. Greenhill is a retired middle school librarian, teacher, mother of four and grandmother of 10. She is a proud graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College and volunteer member of the Sewing Sisters.  

About the Author

Scott Simon is one of America’s most admired writers and broadcasters. He is the host of “Weekend Edition Saturday” and is one of the hosts of NPR’s morning news podcast “Up First.” He has reported from all 50 states, five continents and 10 wars. His books have chronicled character and characters, in war and peace, sports and art, tragedy and comedy. 

Simon has won every major award in broadcasting, including Peabody, Emmy, Columbia-DuPont, Ohio State Award, Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and Sidney Hillman Award. Simon has hosted many television specials, including the PBS’s “State of Mind,” “Voices of Vision” and “Need to Know.” “The Paterson Project” won a national Emmy, as did his two-hour special from the Rio Earth Summit meeting.
