Concert in the Park: The Locals

Arts & Entertainment,
Featured

The Locals, featuring the talented Spencer Eller and Meg Ravis, will open Lakeside’s summer entertainment series with a performance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 24 at the Steele Memorial Bandstand.

The Locals formed in 2014 when Meg (Mischler) Ravis returned to the area after finishing college in Nashville. She began working at The Chapel in Sandusky, where The Locals’ guitarist, Spencer Eller, also worked as a Worship Arts Developer.

Ravis and Eller share a history of playing music together. The two led worship at their high school youth group, as well as playing a handful of shows from 2009-2010. Their first gig together was held at Lakeside’s own Coffee & Cream in 2010.

Eller’s talent, both on guitar and vocally, lends itself well to all music genres. From James Taylor to Johnny Cash and The Killers, Eller performs it all with talent and artistry.

Ravis accompanies the duo on the ukulele, lends harmonies on tunes led by Eller, and leads her own mixture of Indie/Pop and folk songs. Her passion is in taking a well-known song and making it her own.

Her proudest arrangement is her rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” This combination of passions and abilities is what gives The Locals their unique sound.

The event is finished.
