Movie: “Breaking Away”

Orchestra Hall enjoys the distinction of being the only movie theater on the Marblehead Peninsula and Ottawa County. It is a historic theater to watch new and classic films.

Lakeside will feature the movie “Breaking Away” at 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16. The movie is free, but Lakeside Chautauqua values donations to support these types of programs.

Released 45 years ago this week, “Breaking Away” is an underground classic capturing the real life “town vs. gown” relationship challenges of a college town.

The story follows Dave, a working-class Indiana teen obsessed with the Italian cycling team, who creates a new persona to vie for the affections of a college girl while searching for life goals with his three friends.

The film stars Dennis Christopher, Dennis Quaid, Daniel Stern, Jackie Earle Haley and Robyn Douglass. (PG, 1h 41m)
