Movie: “The Searchers”

Orchestra Hall enjoys the distinction of being the only movie theater on the Marblehead Peninsula and Ottawa County. It is a historic theater to watch new and classic films.

Lakeside will feature the movie “The Searchers” at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 4. The movie is free, but Lakeside Chautauqua values donations to support these types of programs.

In this 1956 American western film, an American Civil War veteran embarks on a years-long journey to rescue his niece from the Comanches after the rest of his brother’s family is massacred in a raid on their Texas farm. The film is directed by John Ford and acted by a wonderful ensemble including John Wayne, Jeffery Hunter, Vera Miles, Natalie Wood and Ward Bond. (NR, 1h 59m)
