Lakesiders of all ages will enjoy Sons of Mystro, two violin virtuosos, and their new spin on familiar music at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 16 in Hoover Auditorium.
Born in South Florida to a Jamaican father and Barbadian mother, brothers Malcolm and Umoja McNeish learned to play violin through South Florida’s public school system and attended Dillard High School for the Performing Arts and Broward College in Davie, Florida.
The violin duo plays more than 10 different genres of popular music, combining their original compositions and imaginative covers in their live performances. Accompanied by a DJ and drummer, they use their violins to interpret reggae classics, American pop songs and their own creations.
Sons of Mystro won the “Emerging Artist Under 21” Award at the International Reggae and World Music Awards.
The event is finished.
