The southwest U.S. suffered over two decades of a "megadrought" this century, with Phoenix exceeding 110°F for 31 straight days in 2023. However, localized thunderstorms kill many each year in flash flooding, and wildfires are in the news annually, with some sending their smoke over the Great Lakes. To complete the seasonal cycle, snowpack issues are a big concern for skiers and the overall water supply. This talk will address all four seasons and the impacts in that part of the country.
Rob Dale is a meteorologist and Emergency Manager. He spent over a decade on TV after starting at WTVG TV13 in Toledo back in 1999 with Stan Stachak and Jay Berschback. He made the transition to emergency management in 2009 and currently works for Ingham County, Michigan Emergency Management as the Deputy Emergency Manager.
He is a Certified Emergency Manager and national expert on public alerting. Dale graduated from Jacksonville State University with a bachelor’s degree in emergency management and has a master’s degree from American Military University. He currently serves as an adjunct professor for the University of Maryland in their emergency management program.
