Fitness Room
The Fitness Room is open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily for guests ages 14+. A maximum of 10 people is permitted at a time. From Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend, usage of the Fitness Room switches to a subscription plan. All Lakeside property owners ages 14+ are eligible to sign up for the subscription.
Those who purchase a subscription through the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, located at 236 Walnut Ave., will be granted an electronic fob that will unlock the doors to the Wellness Center and Fitness Room during open hours. Previous subscribers who already have a fob may reactivate their membership through the Administration Office. Although the Wellness Center will not be staffed, security will be on the grounds.

Founders Day Celebration
Lakeside Chautauqua was founded in 1873 by a group of faithful visionaries, insightful businessmen and dedicated locals. Among the early organizers were Rev. Richard P. Duvall, B.H. Jacobs, A.C. Payne and Samuel R. Gill. Now 150 years later, we celebrate their vision and the rich history of Lakeside Chautauqua with two Founders Day Celebrations.
The first celebration will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 28 with a brief ceremony at the Steele Memorial Bandstand. Following the ceremony, enjoy a variety of afternoon activities, including live music, horse-drawn carriage rides and square dancing. The second celebration will be held on Sunday, July 2.

“Lakeside Chautauqua: An American Treasure” Documentary

To celebrate Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial, we’ve partnered with WGTE, a Toledo PBS affiliate, to create a documentary about Lakeside’s history, titled “Lakeside Chautauqua: An American Treasure.” The documentary, narrated by Lakesider and CBS News Correspondent Steve Hartman, will premiere in Hoover Auditorium. Before the premiere, Lakeside staff, Board members, community members and WGTE representatives will introduce the film. After the showing, stay for a Q&A with the documentary producers, Nathan Hursh and Caleb Johnson, and a reception in the Hoover Auditorium Lobby.

Back by popular demand, Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial summer concert series kicks off with The Drowsy Lads, a band known for their spirited arrangements, original bluegrass compositions and true obsession for traditional Irish music. Each lad is a multi-instrumentalist, and the combined lineup includes fiddle, button accordion, tenor banjo, flute, whistle, guitar, bouzouki, uilleann pipes, 5-string banjo, concertina and bodhran.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jerry Popiel will provide a relaxing afternoon of music with hits from the 1970s through today. He is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from the Indie rock band Cat o’ Nines and the 1970s tribute band Cowbell Fever. He performs regularly as an acoustic guitarist and vocalist, sometimes with his backing band, Osage Orange.
DSB – America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey

DSB’s high-energy stage production and accurate recreations of Journey classics have made them one of the most sought-after Journey tribute shows. They’ve captured the signature sound of renowned vocalist Steve Perry and Journey in its prime, singing “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Any Way You Want It” and “Wheel in the Sky.”
Music with Straight from the Heart

Straight from the Heart is a barbershop quartet that has been entertaining Northeast Ohio audiences since 2017. They are active members of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international a cappella singing organization that promotes the four-part barbershop style of singing.

This year, Lakeside Chautauqua will host the peninsula’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade begins at Central Avenue and Fifth Street, travels north on Central Avenue, west on Second Street and proceeds to Pavilion Circle, located in Bettinger Park, where the Memorial Day Ceremony will take place.
The Ceremony includes remarks by Lakeside and Marblehead leaders, a wreath laying, music and remembrances. The rain location for the ceremony is Orchestra Hall.
There’s no charge for admission and parking to enter Lakeside for the parade and ceremony. Guests may enter the gates between 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. If the time allotted is exceeded, guest(s) will be charged a fee upon departure.

Martyn and Morgan Drabik-Hamshare have been birding as a couple since 2014 and have been happily married since 2018. Birds have been a big part of their lives together. As residents of Sandusky, they’ll also share some of their local birding experiences and tips for enjoying the area.
“Audubon” PBS Documentary

Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race
8 a.m., Saturday, May 27 | Lakevue Marina
The Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race, hosted by the Society of Old Salts, will take place Saturday, May 27, weather permitting. All participants are to meet at Lakevue Marina, located one mile outside the W. Second Street Gate, at 8 a.m. for a Skipper’s Meeting to determine the course. The race will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. off the Lakeside Dock.
There will be two sailboat classes, 22’ and above and 30’ and above. This is a displacement boating event. Therefore, boats are required to have keels and a Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) rating. Pre-registration is not required, and there’s no cost to participate.
Beach Walk

Join Dawn Cordero for a barefoot walk along the beach while learning the basics of reflexology.
Chair Yoga

Lakeside Chautauqua requires guests and residents to purchase a Chautauqua Pass and Auto Pass to enter the grounds between May 26-Sept. 4, 2023. There are a variety of Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes to choose from depending on the length of your visit. Guests ages 4 & under and 90 & older enjoy free admission. Purchasing a Chautauqua Pass includes admittance to the grounds, as well as access to entertainment in Hoover Auditorium, the Pool, Wellness Center, and a variety of religious, educational, cultural arts, and recreational opportunities.
For your convenience, purchase Daily, Weekly and Season Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes online. You can also purchase passes at the Hoover Ticket Office, located at 115 W. Third Street, or upon entering the gates of Lakeside during the gated season. All passes are valid from the day of use until 7 p.m. the following day. The 27th Annual Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival, always held on the second Saturday in October, will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on October 14.
This free, peninsula-wide event includes fun for the whole family: tours of the Marblehead Lighthouse and the Wolcott Keeper’s House, live entertainment, children’s games and crafts, a pumpkin-decorating contest, over 100 arts & crafts vendors, a farmers’ market, hayrides and much more in Lakeside Chautauqua and the Village of Marblehead. The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival is organized by Lakeside Chautauqua and the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
Admission, Parking & Shuttles
Admission and parking for the festival in Lakeside are free. For Lakeside activities, guests are encouraged to park in the South Gate Parking Lot off Route 163, near the Lakeside Schoolhouse along Seventh Street, the Bradley Temple parking lot on Cedar Avenue, and along streets that do not have designated parking. Parking at Hotel Lakeside and the Fountain Inn lots are reserved for hotel guests only. Guests will be provided with a special Parking Pass from the hotels to display on the dashboard of vehicles.
Complimentary golf cart shuttles will be available from the South Gate Parking Lot near the Welcome Center and throughout the Lakeside grounds. Marblehead Lighthouse Tours

The onsite Keeper’s House, Lifesaving Station, Gift Shop and Marblehead Lighthouse will be open during the festival. Tours of the 200-year-old Marblehead Lighthouse are available 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for $3/person (cash only); children ages 6 & under are free. The Marblehead Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes. A total of 15 keepers have tended the light. The tower’s history boasts the first female lighthouse keeper in the U.S., Rachel Miller Wolcott.
Wolcott Keeper’s House Tours & Civil War Encampment

The Ottawa County Historical Society presents a Civil War era camp, presented by members of the 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment Band will give hourly performances of period military music.
Docents will provide tours of the historic house that once belonged to Benajah Wolcott, first keeper of the Lighthouse. Period fare, including hot bean soup and cornbread, will be available as well as hearth-cooking demonstrations.
The Wolcott House is one of the oldest surviving homes in Ottawa County and a home to the first three Marblehead Lighthouse keepers. The Ottawa County Historical Society will offer free docent-guided tours on the day of the festival, as well as have Ohio 14th Volunteer Infantry (OVI) re-enactors and the 73rd OVI Regiment Band onsite. The gift shop and museum will be open.

The Fitness Room is open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily for guests ages 14+. A maximum of 10 people is permitted at a time. From Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend, usage of the Fitness Room switches to a subscription plan. All Lakeside property owners ages 14+ are eligible to sign up for the subscription.
Those who purchase a subscription through the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, located at 236 Walnut Ave., will be granted an electronic fob that will unlock the doors to the Wellness Center and Fitness Room during open hours. Previous subscribers who already have a fob may reactivate their membership through the Administration Office. Although the Wellness Center will not be staffed, security will be on the grounds.

Founders Day Celebration
Lakeside Chautauqua was founded in 1873 by a group of faithful visionaries, insightful businessmen and dedicated locals. Among the early organizers were Rev. Richard P. Duvall, B.H. Jacobs, A.C. Payne and Samuel R. Gill. Now 150 years later, we celebrate their vision and the rich history of Lakeside Chautauqua with two Founders Day Celebrations.
The first celebration will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 28 with a brief ceremony at the Steele Memorial Bandstand. Following the ceremony, enjoy a variety of afternoon activities, including live music, horse-drawn carriage rides and square dancing. The second celebration will be held on Sunday, July 2.

To celebrate Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial, we’ve partnered with WGTE, a Toledo PBS affiliate, to create a documentary about Lakeside’s history, titled “Lakeside Chautauqua: An American Treasure.” The documentary, narrated by Lakesider and CBS News Correspondent Steve Hartman, will premiere in Hoover Auditorium. Before the premiere, Lakeside staff, Board members, community members and WGTE representatives will introduce the film. After the showing, stay for a Q&A with the documentary producers, Nathan Hursh and Caleb Johnson, and a reception in the Hoover Auditorium Lobby.

Back by popular demand, Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial summer concert series kicks off with The Drowsy Lads, a band known for their spirited arrangements, original bluegrass compositions and true obsession for traditional Irish music. Each lad is a multi-instrumentalist, and the combined lineup includes fiddle, button accordion, tenor banjo, flute, whistle, guitar, bouzouki, uilleann pipes, 5-string banjo, concertina and bodhran.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jerry Popiel will provide a relaxing afternoon of music with hits from the 1970s through today. He performs regularly as an acoustic guitarist and vocalist, sometimes with his backing band, Osage Orange.

This year, Lakeside Chautauqua will host the peninsula’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade begins at Central Avenue and Fifth Street, travels north on Central Avenue, west on Second Street and proceeds to Pavilion Circle, located in Bettinger Park, where the Memorial Day Ceremony will take place.
The Ceremony includes remarks by Lakeside and Marblehead leaders, a wreath laying, music and remembrances. The rain location for the ceremony is Orchestra Hall.
There’s no charge for admission and parking to enter Lakeside for the parade and ceremony. Guests may enter the gates between 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. If the time allotted is exceeded, guest(s) will be charged a fee upon departure.

Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race

The Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race, hosted by the Society of Old Salts, will take place Saturday, May 27, weather permitting. All participants are to meet at Lakevue Marina, located one mile outside the W. Second Street Gate, at 8 a.m. for a Skipper’s Meeting to determine the course. The race will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. off the Lakeside Dock.
There will be two sailboat classes, 22’ and above and 30’ and above. This is a displacement boating event. Therefore, boats are required to have keels and a Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) rating. Pre-registration is not required, and there’s no cost to participate.
Beach Walk

The 27th Annual Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival, always held on the second Saturday in October, will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on October 14.
This free, peninsula-wide event includes fun for the whole family: tours of the Marblehead Lighthouse and the Wolcott Keeper’s House, live entertainment, children’s games and crafts, a pumpkin-decorating contest, over 100 arts & crafts vendors, a farmers’ market, hayrides and much more in Lakeside Chautauqua and the Village of Marblehead. The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival is organized by Lakeside Chautauqua and the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
Admission, Parking & Shuttles
Admission and parking for the festival in Lakeside are free. For Lakeside activities, guests are encouraged to park in the South Gate Parking Lot off Route 163, near the Lakeside Schoolhouse along Seventh Street, the Bradley Temple parking lot on Cedar Avenue, and along streets that do not have designated parking. Parking at Hotel Lakeside and the Fountain Inn lots are reserved for hotel guests only. Guests will be provided with a special Parking Pass from the hotels to display on the dashboard of vehicles.
Complimentary golf cart shuttles will be available from the South Gate Parking Lot near the Welcome Center and throughout the Lakeside grounds. Shuttle stops are located at the Welcome Center, Lakeside Schoolhouse (Farmers’ Market), Sixth St. & Central Ave., Fifth St. & Central Ave., Third St. & Central Ave., Orchestra Hall, Hotel Lakeside and Fifth St. & Walnut Ave.

Marblehead Lighthouse Tours

The onsite Keeper’s House, Lifesaving Station, Gift Shop and Marblehead Lighthouse will be open during the festival. Tours of the 200-year-old Marblehead Lighthouse are available 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for $3/person (cash only); children ages 6 & under are free. The Marblehead Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes. A total of 15 keepers have tended the light. The tower’s history boasts the first female lighthouse keeper in the U.S., Rachel Miller Wolcott.
Wolcott Keeper’s House Tours & Civil War Encampment

The Ottawa County Historical Society presents a Civil War era camp, presented by members of the 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment Band will give hourly performances of period military music.
Docents will provide tours of the historic house that once belonged to Benajah Wolcott, first keeper of the Lighthouse. Period fare, including hot bean soup and cornbread, will be available as well as hearth-cooking demonstrations.
The Wolcott House is one of the oldest surviving homes in Ottawa County and a home to the first three Marblehead Lighthouse keepers. The Ottawa County Historical Society will offer free docent-guided tours on the day of the festival, as well as have Ohio 14th Volunteer Infantry (OVI) re-enactors and the 73rd OVI Regiment Band onsite. The gift shop and museum will be open.

The Fitness Room is open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily for guests ages 14+. A maximum of 10 people is permitted at a time. From Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend, usage of the Fitness Room switches to a subscription plan. All Lakeside property owners ages 14+ are eligible to sign up for the subscription.
Those who purchase a subscription through the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, located at 236 Walnut Ave., will be granted an electronic fob that will unlock the doors to the Wellness Center and Fitness Room during open hours. Previous subscribers who already have a fob may reactivate their membership through the Administration Office. Although the Wellness Center will not be staffed, security will be on the grounds.

Founders Day Celebration
Lakeside Chautauqua was founded in 1873 by a group of faithful visionaries, insightful businessmen and dedicated locals. Among the early organizers were Rev. Richard P. Duvall, B.H. Jacobs, A.C. Payne and Samuel R. Gill. Now 150 years later, we celebrate their vision and the rich history of Lakeside Chautauqua with two Founders Day Celebrations.
The first celebration will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 28 with a brief ceremony at the Steele Memorial Bandstand. Following the ceremony, enjoy a variety of afternoon activities, including live music, horse-drawn carriage rides and square dancing. The second celebration will be held on Sunday, July 2.

Before the premiere, Lakeside staff, Board members, community members and WGTE representatives will introduce the film. After the showing, stay for a Q&A with the documentary producers, Nathan Hursh and Caleb Johnson, and a reception in the Hoover Auditorium Lobby.

Back by popular demand, Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial summer concert series kicks off with The Drowsy Lads, a band known for their spirited arrangements, original bluegrass compositions and true obsession for traditional Irish music. Each lad is a multi-instrumentalist, and the combined lineup includes fiddle, button accordion, tenor banjo, flute, whistle, guitar, bouzouki, uilleann pipes, 5-string banjo, concertina and bodhran.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jerry Popiel will provide a relaxing afternoon of music with hits from the 1970s through today. He performs regularly as an acoustic guitarist and vocalist, sometimes with his backing band, Osage Orange.

This year, Lakeside Chautauqua will host the peninsula’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade begins at Central Avenue and Fifth Street, travels north on Central Avenue, west on Second Street and proceeds to Pavilion Circle, located in Bettinger Park, where the Memorial Day Ceremony will take place.
The Ceremony includes remarks by Lakeside and Marblehead leaders, a wreath laying, music and remembrances. The rain location for the ceremony is Orchestra Hall.
There’s no charge for admission and parking to enter Lakeside for the parade and ceremony. Guests may enter the gates between 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. If the time allotted is exceeded, guest(s) will be charged a fee upon departure.

Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race

The Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race, hosted by the Society of Old Salts, will take place Saturday, May 27, weather permitting. All participants are to meet at Lakevue Marina, located one mile outside the W. Second Street Gate, at 8 a.m. for a Skipper’s Meeting to determine the course. The race will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. off the Lakeside Dock.
There will be two sailboat classes, 22’ and above and 30’ and above. This is a displacement boating event. Therefore, boats are required to have keels and a Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) rating. Pre-registration is not required, and there’s no cost to participate.

The 27th Annual Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival, always held on the second Saturday in October, will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on October 14.
This free, peninsula-wide event includes fun for the whole family: tours of the Marblehead Lighthouse and the Wolcott Keeper’s House, live entertainment, children’s games and crafts, a pumpkin-decorating contest, over 100 arts & crafts vendors, a farmers’ market, hayrides and much more in Lakeside Chautauqua and the Village of Marblehead. The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival is organized by Lakeside Chautauqua and the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
Admission, Parking & Shuttles
Admission and parking for the festival in Lakeside are free. For Lakeside activities, guests are encouraged to park in the South Gate Parking Lot off Route 163, near the Lakeside Schoolhouse along Seventh Street, the Bradley Temple parking lot on Cedar Avenue, and along streets that do not have designated parking. Parking at Hotel Lakeside and the Fountain Inn lots are reserved for hotel guests only. Guests will be provided with a special Parking Pass from the hotels to display on the dashboard of vehicles.
Complimentary golf cart shuttles will be available from the South Gate Parking Lot near the Welcome Center and throughout the Lakeside grounds. Marblehead Lighthouse Tours

The onsite Keeper’s House, Lifesaving Station, Gift Shop and Marblehead Lighthouse will be open during the festival. Tours of the 200-year-old Marblehead Lighthouse are available 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for $3/person (cash only); children ages 6 & under are free. The Marblehead Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes. A total of 15 keepers have tended the light. The tower’s history boasts the first female lighthouse keeper in the U.S., Rachel Miller Wolcott.
Wolcott Keeper’s House Tours & Civil War Encampment

The Ottawa County Historical Society presents a Civil War era camp, presented by members of the 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment Band will give hourly performances of period military music.
Docents will provide tours of the historic house that once belonged to Benajah Wolcott, first keeper of the Lighthouse. Period fare, including hot bean soup and cornbread, will be available as well as hearth-cooking demonstrations.
The Wolcott House is one of the oldest surviving homes in Ottawa County and a home to the first three Marblehead Lighthouse keepers. The Ottawa County Historical Society will offer free docent-guided tours on the day of the festival, as well as have Ohio 14th Volunteer Infantry (OVI) re-enactors and the 73rd OVI Regiment Band onsite. The gift shop and museum will be open.

The Fitness Room is open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily for guests ages 14+. A maximum of 10 people is permitted at a time. From Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend, usage of the Fitness Room switches to a subscription plan. All Lakeside property owners ages 14+ are eligible to sign up for the subscription.
Those who purchase a subscription through the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, located at 236 Walnut Ave., will be granted an electronic fob that will unlock the doors to the Wellness Center and Fitness Room during open hours. Previous subscribers who already have a fob may reactivate their membership through the Administration Office. Although the Wellness Center will not be staffed, security will be on the grounds.

Founders Day Celebration
Lakeside Chautauqua was founded in 1873 by a group of faithful visionaries, insightful businessmen and dedicated locals. Among the early organizers were Rev. Richard P. Duvall, B.H. Jacobs, A.C. The first celebration will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 28 with a brief ceremony at the Steele Memorial Bandstand. Following the ceremony, enjoy a variety of afternoon activities, including live music, horse-drawn carriage rides and square dancing. The second celebration will be held on Sunday, July 2.

“Lakeside Chautauqua: An American Treasure” Documentary

To celebrate Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial, we’ve partnered with WGTE, a Toledo PBS affiliate, to create a documentary about Lakeside’s history, titled “Lakeside Chautauqua: An American Treasure.” The documentary, narrated by Lakesider and CBS News Correspondent Steve Hartman, will premiere in Hoover Auditorium. Before the premiere, Lakeside staff, Board members, community members and WGTE representatives will introduce the film. After the showing, stay for a Q&A with the documentary producers, Nathan Hursh and Caleb Johnson, and a reception in the Hoover Auditorium Lobby.

Back by popular demand, Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial summer concert series kicks off with The Drowsy Lads, a band known for their spirited arrangements, original bluegrass compositions and true obsession for traditional Irish music. Each lad is a multi-instrumentalist, and the combined lineup includes fiddle, button accordion, tenor banjo, flute, whistle, guitar, bouzouki, uilleann pipes, 5-string banjo, concertina and bodhran.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jerry Popiel will provide a relaxing afternoon of music with hits from the 1970s through today. He is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from the Indie rock band Cat o’ Nines and the 1970s tribute band Cowbell Fever. He performs regularly as an acoustic guitarist and vocalist, sometimes with his backing band, Osage Orange.
DSB – America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey

This year, Lakeside Chautauqua will host the peninsula’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade begins at Central Avenue and Fifth Street, travels north on Central Avenue, west on Second Street and proceeds to Pavilion Circle, located in Bettinger Park, where the Memorial Day Ceremony will take place.
The Ceremony includes remarks by Lakeside and Marblehead leaders, a wreath laying, music and remembrances. The rain location for the ceremony is Orchestra Hall.
There’s no charge for admission and parking to enter Lakeside for the parade and ceremony. Guests may enter the gates between 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. If the time allotted is exceeded, guest(s) will be charged a fee upon departure.

Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race

The Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race, hosted by the Society of Old Salts, will take place Saturday, May 27, weather permitting. All participants are to meet at Lakevue Marina, located one mile outside the W. Second Street Gate, at 8 a.m. for a Skipper’s Meeting to determine the course. The race will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. off the Lakeside Dock.
There will be two sailboat classes, 22’ and above and 30’ and above. This is a displacement boating event. Therefore, boats are required to have keels and a Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) rating. Pre-registration is not required, and there’s no cost to participate.

The 27th Annual Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival, always held on the second Saturday in October, will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on October 14.
This free, peninsula-wide event includes fun for the whole family: tours of the Marblehead Lighthouse and the Wolcott Keeper’s House, live entertainment, children’s games and crafts, a pumpkin-decorating contest, over 100 arts & crafts vendors, a farmers’ market, hayrides and much more in Lakeside Chautauqua and the Village of Marblehead. The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival is organized by Lakeside Chautauqua and the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
Admission, Parking & Shuttles
Admission and parking for the festival in Lakeside are free. For Lakeside activities, guests are encouraged to park in the South Gate Parking Lot off Route 163, near the Lakeside Schoolhouse along Seventh Street, the Bradley Temple parking lot on Cedar Avenue, and along streets that do not have designated parking. Parking at Hotel Lakeside and the Fountain Inn lots are reserved for hotel guests only. Guests will be provided with a special Parking Pass from the hotels to display on the dashboard of vehicles.
Complimentary golf cart shuttles will be available from the South Gate Parking Lot near the Welcome Center and throughout the Lakeside grounds. Marblehead Lighthouse Tours

The onsite Keeper’s House, Lifesaving Station, Gift Shop and Marblehead Lighthouse will be open during the festival. Tours of the 200-year-old Marblehead Lighthouse are available 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for $3/person (cash only); children ages 6 & under are free. The Marblehead Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes. A total of 15 keepers have tended the light. The tower’s history boasts the first female lighthouse keeper in the U.S., Rachel Miller Wolcott.
Wolcott Keeper’s House Tours & Civil War Encampment

The Ottawa County Historical Society presents a Civil War era camp, presented by members of the 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment Band will give hourly performances of period military music.
Docents will provide tours of the historic house that once belonged to Benajah Wolcott, first keeper of the Lighthouse. Period fare, including hot bean soup and cornbread, will be available as well as hearth-cooking demonstrations.
The Wolcott House is one of the oldest surviving homes in Ottawa County and a home to the first three Marblehead Lighthouse keepers. The Ottawa County Historical Society will offer free docent-guided tours on the day of the festival, as well as have Ohio 14th Volunteer Infantry (OVI) re-enactors and the 73rd OVI Regiment Band onsite. The gift shop and museum will be open.

Fitness Room
The Fitness Room is open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. daily for guests ages 14+. A maximum of 10 people is permitted at a time. From Labor Day to Memorial Day weekend, usage of the Fitness Room switches to a subscription plan. All Lakeside property owners ages 14+ are eligible to sign up for the subscription.
Those who purchase a subscription through the Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office, located at 236 Walnut Ave., will be granted an electronic fob that will unlock the doors to the Wellness Center and Fitness Room during open hours. Previous subscribers who already have a fob may reactivate their membership through the Administration Office. Although the Wellness Center will not be staffed, security will be on the grounds.

Founders Day Celebration
Lakeside Chautauqua was founded in 1873 by a group of faithful visionaries, insightful businessmen and dedicated locals. Among the early organizers were Rev. Richard P. Duvall, B.H. Jacobs, A.C. Payne and Samuel R. Gill. Now 150 years later, we celebrate their vision and the rich history of Lakeside Chautauqua with two Founders Day Celebrations.
The first celebration will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 28 with a brief ceremony at the Steele Memorial Bandstand. Following the ceremony, enjoy a variety of afternoon activities, including live music, horse-drawn carriage rides and square dancing. The second celebration will be held on Sunday, July 2.

“Lakeside Chautauqua: An American Treasure” Documentary

To celebrate Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial, we’ve partnered with WGTE, a Toledo PBS affiliate, to create a documentary about Lakeside’s history, titled “Lakeside Chautauqua: An American Treasure.” The documentary, narrated by Lakesider and CBS News Correspondent Steve Hartman, will premiere in Hoover Auditorium. Before the premiere, Lakeside staff, Board members, community members and WGTE representatives will introduce the film. After the showing, stay for a Q&A with the documentary producers, Nathan Hursh and Caleb Johnson, and a reception in the Hoover Auditorium Lobby.

Back by popular demand, Lakeside’s Sesquicentennial summer concert series kicks off with The Drowsy Lads, a band known for their spirited arrangements, original bluegrass compositions and true obsession for traditional Irish music. Each lad is a multi-instrumentalist, and the combined lineup includes fiddle, button accordion, tenor banjo, flute, whistle, guitar, bouzouki, uilleann pipes, 5-string banjo, concertina and bodhran.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Jerry Popiel will provide a relaxing afternoon of music with hits from the 1970s through today. He is a singer, songwriter and guitarist from the Indie rock band Cat o’ Nines and the 1970s tribute band Cowbell Fever. He performs regularly as an acoustic guitarist and vocalist, sometimes with his backing band, Osage Orange.
DSB – America’s Favorite Tribute to Journey

DSB’s high-energy stage production and accurate recreations of Journey classics have made them one of the most sought-after Journey tribute shows. Music with Straight from the Heart

Straight from the Heart is a barbershop quartet that has been entertaining Northeast Ohio audiences since 2017. They are active members of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international a cappella singing organization that promotes the four-part barbershop style of singing.

This year, Lakeside Chautauqua will host the peninsula’s Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony. The parade begins at Central Avenue and Fifth Street, travels north on Central Avenue, west on Second Street and proceeds to Pavilion Circle, located in Bettinger Park, where the Memorial Day Ceremony will take place.
The Ceremony includes remarks by Lakeside and Marblehead leaders, a wreath laying, music and remembrances. The rain location for the ceremony is Orchestra Hall.
There’s no charge for admission and parking to enter Lakeside for the parade and ceremony. Guests may enter the gates between 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. If the time allotted is exceeded, guest(s) will be charged a fee upon departure.

Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race

The Memorial Day Weekend Sailing Race, hosted by the Society of Old Salts, will take place Saturday, May 27, weather permitting. All participants are to meet at Lakevue Marina, located one mile outside the W. Second Street Gate, at 8 a.m. for a Skipper’s Meeting to determine the course. The race will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. off the Lakeside Dock.
There will be two sailboat classes, 22’ and above and 30’ and above. This is a displacement boating event. Therefore, boats are required to have keels and a Performance Handicap Racing Fleet (PHRF) rating. Pre-registration is not required, and there’s no cost to participate.
Beach Walk

Join Dawn Cordero for a barefoot walk along the beach while learning the basics of reflexology.

Lakeside Chautauqua requires guests and residents to purchase a Chautauqua Pass and Auto Pass to enter the grounds between May 26-Sept. 4, 2023. There are a variety of Chautauqua Passes and Auto Passes to choose from depending on the length of your visit. Guests ages 4 & under and 90 & older enjoy free admission. Purchasing a Chautauqua Pass includes admittance to the grounds, as well as access to entertainment in Hoover Auditorium, the Pool, Wellness Center, and a variety of religious, educational, cultural arts, and recreational opportunities.

The 27th Annual Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival, always held on the second Saturday in October, will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on October 14.
This free, peninsula-wide event includes fun for the whole family: tours of the Marblehead Lighthouse and the Wolcott Keeper’s House, live entertainment, children’s games and crafts, a pumpkin-decorating contest, over 100 arts & crafts vendors, a farmers’ market, hayrides and much more in Lakeside Chautauqua and the Village of Marblehead. The Lakeside-Marblehead Lighthouse Festival is organized by Lakeside Chautauqua and the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce.
Admission, Parking & Shuttles
Admission and parking for the festival in Lakeside are free. For Lakeside activities, guests are encouraged to park in the South Gate Parking Lot off Route 163, near the Lakeside Schoolhouse along Seventh Street, the Bradley Temple parking lot on Cedar Avenue, and along streets that do not have designated parking. Parking at Hotel Lakeside and the Fountain Inn lots are reserved for hotel guests only. Guests will be provided with a special Parking Pass from the hotels to display on the dashboard of vehicles.
Complimentary golf cart shuttles will be available from the South Gate Parking Lot near the Welcome Center and throughout the Lakeside grounds. Shuttle stops are located at the Welcome Center, Lakeside Schoolhouse (Farmers’ Market), Sixth St. & Central Ave., Fifth St. & Central Ave., Third St. & Central Ave., Orchestra Hall, Hotel Lakeside and Fifth St. & Walnut Ave.

Celebrate the arts at this one-day event featuring more than 100 arts & craft vendors in both indoor and outdoor marketplaces. Organized by the Marblehead Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. Farmers’ Market

Local farmers and bakers will sell fresh produce, honey, herbs, spices, flowers, seasonal fruit, homemade pies, jams, artisan breads and homemade baked goods.
Lakeside Chautauqua Administration Office Open

Lakeside Golf Cart Shuttle Service

Complimentary golf cart shuttles will be provided throughout the Lakeside grounds. Shuttle stops: the Welcome Center, Wo-Ho-Mis Lodge, Third Street/Central Avenue, Orchestra Hall, Hotel Lakeside and Fifth Street/Walnut Avenue.
Games & Chalk the Walk (all ages)

All ages are welcome to participate in yard games, such as corn hole and an oversized Connect Four. Additionally, Lakeside welcomes all to create art using sidewalk chalk. The Lakeside Recreation Department will be selling vintage T-shirts and offer pop-up movement fun.
Archives & Heritage Hall Museum Open

The unique history of Lakeside and Marblehead is preserved and exhibited in the museum. Displays include photographs, memorabilia and antiques. Scavenger hunts for children of all ages are available, followed by a stop at the treasure chest. The museum gift shop will also be open, and the Archives will be available from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Lakeside Heritage Society will be selling popcorn at the corner of Walnut Ave. and Third St. From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. or until they sell out.
Hayrides

Hayrides throughout Lakeside will be provided by the Bergman family of Bergman Orchards, a local farmers’ market vendor.
Miniature Golf & Shuffleboard

Enjoy a game of miniature golf ($3.50/game; ages 5 & under are free) at our lakefront course or play a free game of shuffleboard in Bettinger Park.

Community Worship Service

Led by the Rev. Karen Graham and organized by the Lakeside United Methodist Church (UMC), this service offers a vibrant style of worship using inspirational song and motivational words. All are invited to attend.

Marblehead Lighthouse Tours

The onsite Keeper’s House, Lifesaving Station, Gift Shop and Marblehead Lighthouse will be open during the festival. Tours of the 200-year-old Marblehead Lighthouse are available 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for $3/person (cash only); children ages 6 & under are free. The Marblehead Lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and the oldest lighthouse in continuous operation on the Great Lakes. A total of 15 keepers have tended the light. The tower’s history boasts the first female lighthouse keeper in the U.S., Rachel Miller Wolcott.
Wolcott Keeper’s House Tours & Civil War Encampment

The Ottawa County Historical Society presents a Civil War era camp, presented by members of the 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment Band will give hourly performances of period military music.
Docents will provide tours of the historic house that once belonged to Benajah Wolcott, first keeper of the Lighthouse. Period fare, including hot bean soup and cornbread, will be available as well as hearth-cooking demonstrations.
The Wolcott House is one of the oldest surviving homes in Ottawa County and a home to the first three Marblehead Lighthouse keepers. The Ottawa County Historical Society will offer free docent-guided tours on the day of the festival, as well as have Ohio 14th Volunteer Infantry (OVI) re-enactors and the 73rd OVI Regiment Band onsite. The gift shop and museum will be open.
