The grand opening of the newly renovated Lakeside Heritage Hall Museum will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at 238 Maple Ave.
Heritage Hall Museum is housed in the 151-year-old building originally built as the Lakeside Chapel, the first church in Lakeside. In 2025, in honor of the building’s 150th anniversary, the Lakeside Heritage Society (LHS) funded a major renovation of the museum. Floors, walls and ceilings were completely restored. Electrical systems, lighting, airflow, outside signage and landscaping were upgraded. Display exhibits were enhanced to showcase the many artifacts reflecting the dynamic history of Lakeside and the four pillars of the Chautauqua Movement.
This renovation helps the LHS achieve its mission to preserve, promote, advance and be a public resource for the history of Lakeside, its impact on the Marblehead Peninsula, and the Chautauqua Movement in America.
The renovation was funded through grants from the Ohio History Fund, a grant program of the Ohio History Connection, and Shores & Islands Ohio, and generous donations from over 180 Lakeside households and organizations.
Founded in 1968 as the Lakeside Heritage Club, the LHS operates the Heritage Hall Museum and Heritage Archives and provides educational programs aligned with its mission to keep Lakeside history alive for generations to come.
