American Musical Productions, under the direction of Joseph N. Rubin, will present a Lakeside Band Concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 5 at the Steele Memorial Bandstand.

From the 1890s through the 1920s, Grant Connell and Harry Wideman conducted the Lakeside Band and entertained throngs of guests at Lakeside’s bandstand every afternoon. Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with an authentic “living history” concert that recreates a July 1927 Lakeside Band program.

Step back in time to the golden age of the concert band as Rubin leads an 18-piece ensemble of Northern Ohio’s finest musicians attired in period uniforms. Experience light classics such as the “William Tell Overture,” folk songs by Stephen Foster, beloved light opera selections by Victor Herbert, patriotic favorites by George M. Cohan and marches by John Philip Sousa. Be there for the premiere of the recently re-discovered “Lakeside March” by Connell, not heard anywhere since 1911.
