Witness the story behind one of the world’s largest and most legendary steam locomotives. Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014, the largest operating steam locomotive ever built, is a National Historic Landmark and a rare sight on today’s railroads.

During this presentation, attendees will learn about the locomotive’s remarkable history, why its return to the rails has captivated railroad enthusiasts across the country, and why its visit through the region is considered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Presenter Draydin Nieset, a recent graduate, avid railroad photographer and lifelong railfan, has been passionate about trains for most of his life and has enjoyed visiting Lakeside since he was 4 years old. He recently celebrated his graduation with a party at the Train Station.

Nieset will share highlights from his experience chasing Big Boy No. 4014, discuss the locomotive’s historic significance, and provide tips for catching the locomotive as it returns through the area in July.
