National Historic Camp Meeting Celebration

Date & Time

July 26, 2026

7:15 pm - 8:15 pm

Join in fellowship for the second National Historic Camp Meeting Celebration at 7:15 p.m. EDT Sunday, July 26 in Lakeside’s Hoover Auditorium, with a livestream available nationwide.

This special evening brings together camp meetings from across the country for a hybrid experience of music, spiritual leadership and historic reflection.

Music will be provided by Michael Shirtz and the Lakeside Chautauqua Choir, along with guest groups from across the nation. The celebration is supported by the Rev. Dr. Bud Cox Endowment, with the music supported by Doris F. Beardsley and James E. Beardsley.

Guest preacher Rev. Dr. Kenda Creasy Dean, Professor of Youth, Church and Culture at Princeton Theological Seminary, will lead the worship service. A prolific author of 24 books, she is best known for Almost Christian: What the Faith of Our Teenagers is Telling the American Church.

Dean first felt called to ministry while attending a youth camp at Lakeside. In high school, she was elected East Ohio Conference Council on Youth Ministries President for The United Methodist Church.

“Camp meetings hold a special place in my heart,” Dean says. “I’m deeply honored to preach at this year’s National Historic Camp Meeting Celebration.”
