World-class chamber music returns to Lakeside this summer.
The Saga String Quartet Institute is an intensive training program for emerging professional string quartets. In a focused and collaborative setting, ensembles immerse themselves in rigorous coaching designed to strengthen artistic identity, refine ensemble cohesion and elevate performance at the highest level.
Building on the foundation of the former Harpa International Music Academy USA (HIMA USA) — an extension of the acclaimed HIMA in Iceland — Saga brings an established tradition of chamber music excellence to Northeast Ohio.
The program is led by Sibbi Bernhardsson, Professor of Violin and Director of Strings at Oberlin Conservatory of Music and longtime member of the Grammy-winning Pacifica Quartet, and co-founded with Executive Director Sally Takada.
Each summer culminates in a concert at Lakeside, offering audiences the opportunity to hear dynamic young ensembles on the cusp of major careers.
