Susan Bixler will give a talk on the snakes of our region, with a focus on the Lake Erie water snake.
Bixler is an Education & Outreach Specialist with the Ohio State University’s Stone Laboratory and Ohio Sea Grant College Program. A veteran science educator with 33 years of classroom
experience, she now leads teacher professional development initiatives, supports Stone Lab programming and promotes environmental literacy throughout the Great Lakes region.
Known for traveling with a live Lake Erie water snake to share its conservation story, Bixler is passionate about connecting people to the natural world through hands-on learning and outreach. Her work includes curriculum development, climate education, marine debris awareness and environmental stewardship programs for students, teachers, and communities across Ohio.
