5K Raccoon Run & One-Mile Fun Run

Walkers, joggers, and runners of all ages will take to the streets of Lakeside on Sunday, July 21 for the 44th Annual 5K Raccoon Run and One-Mile Fun Run.

The 5K begins at 8 a.m. near Orchestra Hall. The course stretches around the perimeter of Lakeside and ends at Hoover Auditorium. View course map.

The One-Mile Fun Run begins at 8:15 a.m. near the Lakeside Laundromat. It is on flat terrain along Second and Third Streets and ends at Hoover Auditorium.

Light refreshments for all racers will be provided at the finish line, and awards will be given immediately following the race on the steps of Hoover Auditorium.

Registration

Registration includes chip timing and a chance at age group finisher awards for the 5K, as well as a commemorative T-shirt and decal for both 5K and One-Mile Fun Run participants. REGISTER NOW!

• 5K: $35/person, includes a T-shirt and commemorative decal. Please note that T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after July 7, 2024. Registration without a T-shirt is $25/person, but still includes the commemorative decal
• One-Mile Fun Run: $15/person, includes a T-shirt and commemorative decal. Please note that T-shirts are not guaranteed for registrations after July 7, 2024.
• Early Check-in & T-Shirt Pick Up: available on Saturday, July 20 from 7-7:30 p.m. in Hoover Auditorium lobby,

The registration fee does not include admission and parking to Lakeside. On the day of the event, a complimentary Recreation Event Pass, valid from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., is available for registrants only at the Fifth Street or South Gate entrance. This pass does not allow access to the pool or Hoover Auditorium entertainment. 5K Raccoon Run:

• • 1st Place Overall in the Men’s & Women’s divisions
  • 1st, 2nd & 3rd Place in each of the Men’s & Women’s age divisions
  • Bob Brucken Honorary Award

Started in 2023, the Bob Brucken Honorary Award is given to the oldest participant finishing the 5K Raccoon Run. The award, named after longtime Lakesider Bob Brucken, is in recognition of his leadership in promoting this race. Brucken has run the 5K since its inception, earning medals several times. In fact, some years, Brucken finished the race pushing a neighbor in a wheelchair. He can be seen jogging the Lakeside streets and nature trail all summer, often times with members of his family trailing alongside. His love of running, the Raccoon Run and Lakeside is contagious.
