Join Terri Libenson for a workshop at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7 as part of Lakeside’s Authors & Writing Series. This workshop, titled “From Creation to Publication: My Background in Professional Cartooning,” will be held in the Fountain Inn Aigler Room.

What is it like to be a cartoonist? Libenson can answer that question… but not in a nutshell. In this hour-long, very fun and dynamic slideshow, Libenson will discuss her career as it has spanned through three decades: first as a humorous card writer and illustrator for American Greetings, then as an internationally syndicated newspaper cartoonist, and finally as a New York Times bestselling graphic novelist. She will also discuss the writing and artistic processes involved in creating her books. A live drawing demo will take place at the end of the lecture (before the always-anticipated Q&A, of course).

Terri Libenson is the New York Times bestselling author of the Emmie & Friends kids’ series (HarperCollins) and cartoonist of the Reuben Award-winning, nationally syndicated comic strip, “The Pajama Diaries” (2006-2020). Previously, she was an award-winning humorous card writer and illustrator for American Greetings. Libenson empty nests in Cleveland, Ohio, with her husband, Mike. She is the proud mom of two grown daughters and an almost-grown poodle, Rosie.
