Beginner Fencing (Ages 7-11)

In this two-day introductory class, children will fence with styrofoam noodles, plastic foils and actual fencing equipment (non-electric). Activities will include training in strength, balance, coordination, weight distribution and footwork leading up to concepts of fighting: distance, timing and execution of more complicated fencing actions at a very novice level. History of fencing, Olympic Fencing and competitive vs. recreational fencing will be discussed. Classes are July 17-18 from 3:45-4:45 at the Wellness Center Drackett Hall.

Dress code: tennis shoes, T-shirt, shorts or sweatpants (preferred)

Class time: 60 minutes

*Following completion of this class, participants will be eligible to register for the All Lakeside Fencing Tournament, Friday July 19.

Pre-registration is required at lakesideohio.com/registration, and the cost for the two days is $30/person. Please note that registration does not include admission and parking fees that are required to enter the Lakeside grounds.
