Chautauqua Community Worship Service: Father Michael Renninger

Religious Life

Lakeside Chautauqua is pleased to welcome Father Michael Renninger to lead the 10:30 a.m. Chautauqua Community Worship Service on Sunday, July 3 in Hoover Auditorium. This week’s Preacher of the Week is supported by Steve & Jane Anderson.

Featuring music and the spoken Word, Michael Shirtz and guest artists will provide musical leadership during the service, while the liturgy is led by the Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, Senior Director of Religious Life & Pastoral Care. This week’s service will be live streamed. Visit lakesideohio.com/streaming to watch on the day of the service.

Following the opening prayer, children (ages 5-11) will proceed to Bradley Temple for Children’s Church with Chip Richter. There will be a message by Richter, songs, crafts and refreshments to share. Children ages 6 and under are welcome if accompanied by an adult.

Renninger will also lead Vespers by the Lake at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Steele Memorial Bandstand.

Renninger is a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. Born and raised in Pennsylvania, he studied piano, voice, and guitar while in high school. He attended Ursinus College (PA) and later attended The Catholic University of America, where he received graduate degrees in Theology and Liturgy.

He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Richmond in 1993 and has served as Vicar for Vocations and Rector of the Cathedral. He currently serves as pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Richmond.

In addition to his parish duties, Renninger travels extensively to serve as a guest preacher and retreat leader. He was a featured preacher at the Festival of Homiletics and is a regular contributor to A Sermon for Every Sunday, an online sermon resource produced at First Baptist Church in Richmond. Renninger has also been privileged to serve as the guest preacher at a variety of Chautauqua communities, including Bay View (Michigan) and Lakeside.
