Chautauqua Community Worship Service: Rev. Dr. Lovett Weems Jr.

Religious Life

This week’s service will be live streamed. Visit lakesideohio.com/streaming to watch on the day of the service.

To close the 2022 Chautauqua summer season, the Rev. Dr. Lovett Weems Jr. will serve as Guest Preacher at the 10:30 a.m. Chautauqua Community Worship Service on Sunday, Sept. 4 in Hoover Auditorium. This week’s guest preacher is supported by the Rev. Dr. Charles & Barbara Yoost.

Featuring music and the spoken Word, professional Christian Jazz musicians and Gospel music artists Johnny Parker and Jacob Bates join percussionist Jerry Powell and Michael Shirt for the service. Liturgy is led by the Rev. Dr. Charles Yoost, Senior Director of Religious Life & Pastoral Care.

Parker is a visionary in the field of Christian entertainment development, marketing/promotion, organizational design consultant and social work. When consulted about the possibility of returning to Lakeside this summer, Parker said, “I’d love to come back!” The Chautauqua Choir and anyone wishing to sing in the gospel music service are welcome to join.

Preceding the worship service, Parker and Shirtz will offer a music workshop at 9 a.m. on the stage of Hoover Auditorium. All singers are invited to attend, whether they have been part of Lakeside Chautauqua’s summer music program and/or choral groups in the past.

Parker’s appearance is made possible through the generous support of James E. Beardsley and Doris F. Beardsley, who have supported the summer musical offerings for the Sunday Hoover Community Worship all summer long.

Following the opening prayer, children (ages 5-11) will proceed to Bradley Temple for Children’s Church with Chip Richter. There will be a message by Richter, songs, crafts, and refreshments to share. Children ages 6 and under are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
