This summer’s Religious Life Seminar series on Christian Biographies will explore the lives and thoughts of four prominent Christians who shared their message at Lakeside during its 150-year history.
On Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Wellness Center Drackett Hall, we will explore the life and teachings of Norman Vicent Peale (1898-1993).
Peale (1898-1993) was a nationally renowned clergyman who was both inspiring and controversial. He reached millions of readers and listeners over the years with his message of optimism, courage and faith; yet, many leading theologians decried his “prosperity gospel” as a cult with a message centered on self, not on God.
Ohio-born and raised, Peale had ties to Lakeside that run deeper than those of most visiting speakers, making his story particularly interesting to Lakesiders.
David Blank will lead this seminar, which will consist of both a lecture and small group discussion.
The event is finished.
