Dr. Charles Modlin, M.D., M.B.A., will present a lecture in Orchestra Hall at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 8.  This talk is supported by the Jacob Nees Endowment.

Modlin, M.D., M.B.A., is the first and only Black Kidney Transplant Surgeon in the history of the Cleveland Clinic, and one of only approximately 20 Black transplant surgeons in the nation.

He is currently the Medical Director of Inclusion Diversity Equity at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland. A native of Chicago, Modlin has overcome enormous odds, roadblocks and trials.

Modlin graduated from Northwestern University and Northwestern University Medical School, completed a six-year residency in urology at New York University and a three-year fellowship in kidney transplantation surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He joined the Cleveland Clinic in 1996.

Modlin is a noted national leader in eliminating health disparities as well as a strong national proponent for educating and informing minority communities regarding the importance of organ donation and increasing minority access to kidney and organ transplantation.
