Lakeside 120 Bicycle Ride

This summer, Lakeside welcomes back Lakeside 120 on Thursday, July 14. Join this group of experienced bike riders when they arrive at Lakeside’s East Second Street Gate around 5 p.m. and celebrate their victorious ride.

The group of nearly 100 bikers, many of whom are first-time visitors to Lakeside, will be riding 122 miles from Delaware, Ohio to Lakeside in one day.

Sean Gill and Brian White, longtime biking friends and Lakesiders, will safely lead the group on this rewarding journey.

The third annual ride is centered around Lakeside and its foundation to honor history. Gill’s great-great- grandfather, Samuel Richard Gill, was one of the original founders of Lakeside in the late 1800s. The ride honors Samuel Richard Gill.

The inaugural Lakeside 120 was an effort by Gill and White to welcome people to the Lakeside community and introduce them to its history.

“The Lakeside community was so welcoming at our last two rides! Coming through those gates, people were waving signs and strangers were congratulating us. At that point, all of the riders immediately realized how special Lakeside is,” said Gill.

Gill emphasized the impact the generosity and kindness of Lakesiders has on the riders. “Lakeside makes us feel welcome and taken care of as soon as we come through the east gate. Cottage owners open their homes to riders, and people you don’t even know say ‘hi’ on the street like they’ve know you forever. That is Lakeside and that is what makes it special. We couldn’t think of a better place to celebrate the end of our ride.”
