Inspired by the Hawaiian teaching of “Laulima,” meaning “many hands,” “Laulima for Maui” is an event that encourages working together for a greater cause. It is a chair massage event with the goal of raising money to help those devastated by the wildfires that destroyed land, homes, businesses, and most tragically, lives.

Chair massages will take place from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18 and 12:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19 on Walnut Plaza. Participants will receive a 10-minute massage from Michaela Savona, L.M.T., completely donation based; must be age 18+.

The funds raised will directly support the “Maui Strong Fund,” set up by The Hawaii Community Foundation, a highly regarded nonprofit organization recommended to Savona by many Lakesiders. More information will be available at the event for direct donations, as credit card contributions cannot be accepted. Cash and checks are welcome.

In the case of inclement weather, Friday’s event will move to the Upper Room, above Gifts That Give Back on Second Street, and Saturday’s event will move to the Fountain Inn Aigler Room.

The event is finished.
