Mercury: The Music of Queen and Freddie Mercury
Mercury: The Music of Queen & Freddie Mercury take the Hoover Auditorium stage Saturday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. This incredible tribute concert is dedicated to the music of Freddie Mercury, the lead man that made Queen world-famous.
The show features Terry Barber, one of the world’s top counter-tenors, and covers all of Mercury’s hits: “We Will Rock You,” “Radio Ga Ga,” “We are the Champions,” “Barcelona,” “A Kind of Magic,” “Under Pressure,” “The Great Pretender,” “Another One Bites the Dust”, “The Show Must Go On,” “Somebody to Love,” “Who Wants to Live Forever,” and, of course, “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
Barber, former member of the Grammy winning group Chanticleer, has created this not-to-be-missed spectacle for rock music fans. He has been a soloist for the best venues around the world, from the Metropolitan Opera to Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall and can be heard on recordings with artists from Madonna, Jewel, Chaka Khan and Cyndi Lauper, to the London Philharmonic.
The full company includes Barber and a four-person rock ensemble including Tony Award-winning vocalist Grace Field.
Following the concert, Lakeside will launch fireworks from the waterfront at 9 p.m., weather permitting.
